Pen and watercolor by Beatrix Potter from The Tailor of Gloucester from the collection at the Tate Museum |
I did not have the pleasure of reading or listening to Beatrix Potter as a child so this drawing does not have any real memories for me. The colours drew me into the watercolour more than the images. The earrings did not come easily to me ---- My personal preference is for very simple earrings - I like my necklaces to do the talking. Therefore, my earrings both picked up the blue colour from the beautiful background tapestry.

I can see another very beautiful pair or two using fibre in my mind's eye. Perhaps I will try to translate them later.
Thanks for visiting. Enjoy!
Loving the simplicity of your earrings so your necklace can shine. Whether we choose either the earrings, the necklace, or the bracelet to be the standout piece.... all three may be a bit much. (smile)
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more - some people may be able to pull it off but I am not one of them. Thanks for visiting and for your kind words.
DeleteYou can never go wrong with simple, elegant designs using quality materials and great construction. Both of these are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - I appreciate your words.
DeleteBoth pair have understated elegance and will surely get lots of compliments. Love your comment under the first pair about a "needle pulling thread". So fun to see what inspires each of us in this work!

Thank you. I always love what variety is created from a single photo. We all see the same photo but the creations are very rarely alike. But when you see them you often think - "why didn't I think of that"...
Delete"Needle pulling thread" is the perfect caption for both your earrings and the illustration. In my head I am singing it. I was drawn to simplicity, too. Both pairs are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you --- thanks for visiting.
DeleteHi I'm a hoop fan too. Love your designs, simple elegance xx
ReplyDeleteNice to know I'm not the only one who struggled! Lovely, simple and elegant, indeed!
ReplyDeleteStruggle seems to be my operative word these days. Thank you!
Deletewow these are really pretty! I love the movement the wearer will get with your lovely designs!
ReplyDeleteThank you - I also love to wear earrings with movement.
DeleteVery pretty. They look fun to wear.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do like how the first pair actually picks up the shape of the bunny's ears (well, upside down, but still, it's there!) and the little blue color picks up the little flowers in the picture - perfect. I do like the other pair as well - both are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWow - never saw that but I do now - I will think of it every time I wear them. Thank you
DeleteVery elegant. Love them both!
ReplyDeleteI do love the color of both pair and you did a wonderful job picking up the inspiration color. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you - I never used to be a fan of colour but as time goes by I am loving colour more and more. Maybe just hints of it but there none the less.
DeleteBoth pairs are lovely, simple designs. I'm drawn more to the teardrop hoop pair but love the detail of the twisted ring in the second pair.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much - all the earrings in this challenge have been wonderful.
