This is Daunting!

This is daunting! I have never been much of a writer. My husband, yes, my son, definitely, my daughter, certainly. In fact, my children both make a living performing some sort of writing task. Me, the wife, the mother, not so much. But, I want to communicate with you. I find that as I communicate even as little as I do, I am beginning to enjoy this. I like sharing and I certainly like your feedback. (As I am sure we all do.)

I am currently working on skill building in my jewellery making. Over the year I have taken many classes, both in person and online. They have been amazing. I am very shy in class and therefore often ask few questions. When I get home all my questions rise to the surface and I put the newly acquired skill away and forget it. Well, the time has come to dust these skills off and put them to use. Right now I am working on patina, chain making and resin. I am also trying my hand at ceramic beads. Hopefully I can show results soon.

  1. I find that blogging is easier for me because I have few followers & their is little pressure to write in a specific style. I can just se my authentic voice. Good luck!

  2. Hi! I also love taking jewelry/metalsmithing classes! I've taken 3 at Arrowmont in Gatlinburg, Tennessee but I have been slow to set up my own studio. There is an ENDLESS amount of equipment needed to make jewelry. I've recently purchased a used kiln from ebay and I'm trying to get it in working condition (not something you want to make a mistake with). I have made some ceramic pendants and earrings but I have to wait until I can fire them. It's all very FUN isn't it? Thanks for stopping by my blog and I look forward to seeing more of your work. Your pieces are beautiful!

    1. I would love to take a class at Arrowmont - we were talking about it in my class just yesterday. (My current instructor Robert Dancik has taught there.) I could not agree more about the tools required for this "little hobby" of ours. It is challenging but so rewarding. I want to try it all - but it takes time and effort to make it work. I look forward to seeing more of your work and learning of your progress with your studio. Good luck. See you soon.

  3. Really enjoying checking out your blog and I agree about the writing skills. I can write and I can talk but when I set down to write a post, I start drawing a blank. Looking forward to following your jewelry making adventures. Thanks for visiting my blog.
